Hallo Belgie 
ja, ik weet, het is al weer veel te lang geleden... maar om jullie een beetje te troosten, teken dat ik het hier echt wel naar mn zin heb he...!
Waar zal ik beginnen... mss gewoon maar met wat ik nu allemaal uitspook, en vooral wat er me de volgende 6 weken te wachten staat.
Aangezien vakantie ook wel gelijk staat met rode cijfertjes op de bankrekening... werd het weleens tijd om een jobke te zoeken...
Het is nu donderdag 19 februari, 5 dagen geleden zijn we met onzen tuut (kelly en ik hebben hem Jo Freedom gedoopt) aangekomen in The Sunshine State, Queensland, Brisbane (oostkust van Australie). 2 nachten hebben we in een hostel aan de chinese wijk gezeten, en dan zijn we verhuist naar The Palace, een groot hostel in het centrum.
Kelly en Caroline zijn dan direct hun zoektocht naar werk begonnnen, en ze hadden vrijwel meteen succes hier beneden in het Job Center aan de hostel. Caroline gaat babysitten op een boeleke van 2 maanden en Kelly gaat in diezelfde mensen hun bar werken. Jammer genoeg was er maar plek voor 2, dus heb ik iets anders moeten zoeken.
Gene paniek, want 5 minuten daarna was ik ook al gesteld... mijn volgende 6 weken (als het meevalt natuurlijk, hahaha) ga ik doorbrengen in het boeregat Jondaryan, jihaa. In het enigste hotel daar, en dat is wss ook het enigste dat daar te zien valt. Mijn werk zak een beetje vanalles zijn denk ik, pintjes tappen, opdienen, helpen in de keuken, bedden opmaken... weereens iets anders he...
Heb even gegoogeld naar dit toerist trekplijster, en dit heb ik gevonden...
Jondaryan
A well constructed tourist attraction which recreates a 19th century Queensland rural township.
Located 172 km west of Brisbane and 43 km from Toowoomba, Jondaryan is a superb example of a tiny, unimportant settlement exploiting its one famous and important old historical building and creating an entire tourism industry out of it.
The town itself is no more than a hotel, a few shops, and a few houses. (dus met andere woorden THE MIDDLE OF NOWWHERE hihihi) It is nothing more than a small hamlet on the Warrego Highway. It would be fair to suggest that the town is there merely to direct traffic towards the Jondaryan Woolshed Tourist Complex.
Jondaryan was first settled by Charles Coxon in 1842. It was named, so the accepted wisdom goes, after the Aboriginal word 'Jondooyan' which was the name given to a waterhole in the Oakey creek. The property changed hands a number of times in the 1840s and 1850s until it was purchased by Robert and Edwin Tooth (famous for their beer as well as their involvement in the establishment of the Bank of New South Wales and the Colonial Sugar Refining Company) in 1856.
The Jondaryan Station remained the centre of all activities in the area although the arrival of the railway in 1868 did much to increase the population of the town which rose to about 350 people before World War 1. The town was large enough to send 57 young men off to war in 1914.
The highlight of each year at Jondaryan is the nine day Australian Heritage Festival which is held at the end of August. During this period people come from all over Australia to display traditional bush crafts and the machinery in this remarkable museum complex all becomes operational.

Ben benieuwd wat me dan te wachten staat... maar dat horen jullie zeker binnekort nog wel van me.
